I've been meaning to post a little blog about this Christie's catalog that was sent to us a month or so ago... Well, the auction opens today, so now's probably a good time.
It was strange flipping through it and seeing these punk items for sale... Here's your youth in all its energetic anti commercialization anti excess now being offered to the highest bidder in all its indulgent glory. Bits of paper featuring the scrawlings of poets and artists being sought after by wealthy or just obsessed collectors...
I mean, I get it. You have to have it. You own something touched by your most idealized musician... To think that their hand touched this or knowing you can own the only copy of that and this... You were their biggest fan. Seeing it takes you back to a time before the stresses of your successful life or whatever... If you got the money, why not?... It's just fucking strange is all, and well, here's a little sample of the auction that went down this morning...
Punk rock and childhood memories for sale.
The catalog states that vinyl art toys are on the up and up. Save that collection 'cause it might worth a lot already.
