I sometimes have a hard time adjusting from work mode to relax mode and visa versa... Took some time off from the office on Monday to help make the adjustment back to work mode a bit easier... Hope on the bike and make my way about San Francisco and see what we can come up with...
The only problem is that Jay Howell, my riding buddy, had some last minute shit to deal with, so it's solo mission time... Shit, I need someone to bounce ideas off of. Where to go? What to do?
I had to pick up some keys at Hotel Biron which, if you don't know, is a rad little wine bar right around the corner from our gallery. A bit expensive (but that's any wine bar), but nice.
They hold solo shows once a month... This month is a good one.
Work from Scott Greenwalt... 34 year old CCA MFA graduate.
This is what he looks like.
His earliest aspirations were to work in Hollywood doing horror movie special effects, awed by the work of Rick Baker and Tom Savini. That macabre sensibility carried over into a fascination with metal and punk album-cover art, which he began reproducing on paper and his friends clothing throughout junior high and high school. This led to logo and flier designs for friends' bands.
Around the corner to Fecal Face Dot Gallery where I was going to shoot the show... but the lighting wasn't good and I didn't have my flashes, so fuck that.
See you later, group show.
Jesse works part time at the video shop... Wanted to get his advice as to where I should head off to.
Instead I drank a beer while he played with his ball.
Porn back room.
Watched an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm... Too good.
Went through my phone and knew that Andrew Schoultz is working on his upcoming show which opens September 4th @Marx & Zavattero... The show is titled "In God We Trust"... Headed down to the Mission where he keeps a studio.
Down the hall.
Thanks, guys... Be sure to remember that they both have seperate solo shows opening the first week in Semptember... Don't worry 'cause we'll remind you as the date approaches.
We're going to try and get out more on Mondays for studio visits... and just to check out interesting things the city has to offer in terms of art... If you know of a place you think we should visit, let us know either through email or leave a comment below.
