We've known Alexis for some time now (she showed at FFDG back in 2008 photos). When we saw she had a solo show coming up at Park Life we thought it might be a good time to see if we could have a look-see at her new work. Below is a quick studio visit we did June 19th.
She welcomed us over...
Her show opens this Friday, June 26th...
The scowl turned upside down and gifts were offered.
Into her work space.... covered in magazine and book scraps...
The birthplace of her collage magic.
Patience is something Alexis was born with. She showed us some intensely detailed and finely crafted work her father did back in the day.
She was recently featured in a University of Utah writing journal.
She has this great Kevin Taylor painting above her work area.
Tiny precise scissors are the name of the game.
Some of her work on display at Park Life starting this Friday and into the month of July.
Can you see the words?
A new scripting style with her work... Like it.
"Never Be Sad"... the title of the show at Park Life opening Fri 6/26
Asked if she felt bad cutting up books... "no".
She also collects a lot of books she gets at estate sales...
Like this book which was empty except for this odd page dated '78.
Thanks for the tour, Alexis. See you Friday.
And to wrap up, how about a couple jokes?
