Friday the rain began and we decided to walk across San Francisco. A couple bottles of 2 Buck Chuck in my bag, and we shoved off from the Mission, through Civic Center, past Union Square, up through China Town, into North Beach and to Fisherman's Warf... On Saturday we did our part in helping the struggling state parks with some camping at China Camp in Marin. It stormed like crazy with lightning and hail, but who cares. The discounted rain gear did the trick. We stayed 100% dry and had an awesome time. Highly recommend getting some rain gear this year. ~photos
New water proof gear.
Hello, City Hall
SF Giants. World Champs.
Texting in doorways
Hey, look at me. I have slickers on.
You and your silly umbrella.
A slice at Golden Boy.
After our walk, we ended up at the sisters for Wii and more wine.
Woke up and crossed Market Street... Now we're off to China Camp - great state park camping spot 25 minutes north of SF.
$35/ night is steep for one night of camping, but worth it... Don't know why they don't charge the people who use the park for mountain biking and stick it to us ground sleepers.
Astronauts but dry.
MMmmm steak on fire... Getting the fire going in the rain wasn't as hard as I thought...
Trader Joes has great New York Strips.... One is great for two people... Wanna know how to BBQ a great steak? Fire on high. Almost to burn on one side. Flip it. Almost burn the other side. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Done and tasty... Of course, if you don't eat meat, may I suggest a veggie burger.
Dawn and damp.
2 nights of sleeping on the ground drinking wine... Time for the hydrate.
China Camp is a really beautiful park with tons of trails and worthy of a visit... Even more fun at night in the rain...
Oh, and be warned, the raccoons can be gnarly. If I had a BB gun maybe it would have been put to good use. Wink wink, but we'd never do that to keep the fuckers away, and if we did, you might only have to sting one for all of them to get the idea... Just sayin'.
Camping highlight: the 20 or so wild turkeys that walked through our camp at dawn. Bummer no photos, but they looked just like this.
