Will Deutsch and his Jews
Tuesday, 29 June 2010 10:59
WILL DEUTSCH <-- emailed and let us know he makes lots of drawings of Jews. We like them. A bit about Will in his own words: studied art at UCLA and currently live in Los Angeles obsessively making pictures. Were I at all athletically inclined, my life may have gone a completely different direction, but as it stands my 5'7'' frame was suitable for mostly cerebral and cultural pursuits.

Nice Art! How Much?
Friday, 25 June 2010 12:17

An Ansel Adams photo sold for a record-high price this week. That raises a broader question: How does pricing work in the art market, anyway? ~Interesting story on art prices on NPR's Morning Edition ~ How it can vary so much and how does work get priced in the first place? How does a dead shark get to $12 Million?!

KC Ortiz Upper Playground Tees
Thursday, 24 June 2010 16:56

Our friends @UP release some new tees as well as host a Facebook design contest w/ a chance at winning a Jason Jagel print - KC Ortiz is one of the most engaging photographers we’ve seen, a member of the Chicago based art collective ‘We Are Supervision’ and also the designer behind four new t-shirts that Upper Playground is releasing. While his photographic style documents stark, personal and eye opening accounts of the far reaching corners of this world, when it comes to design KC Ortiz generally takes a much more light hearted approach and aims to make fundamentally simple, “weird, funky stuff.” And this line of tees is just that. All four t-shirts are available at Upper Playground retail locations and online at the Upper Playground web store. ~read on
