Sketch Tuesday's Tonight
Tuesday, 28 January 2014 09:11

SAN FRANCISCO --- 111 Minna hosts Sketch Tuesdays tonight featuring artists: Alex Brauback, Mary Syring, Michael Capozzola, Helen Bayly, Bo Heimlich, Chelsea Brown, Tiff Pollard, Dennis McNulty, Lauren Napolitano, John Wagaspack, Annica Lydenberg, Laura Campos, Dan 'Chili' Stromberg, Yukako Ezoe, Monty Guy, and Annie Galvin.

A great event where artists draw, you watch them draw with a drink in hand, and then the artists pin their work to a board where you can purchase said works at a very resonable rate. It's an inexpensive way to get some original works on your walls.

Neutral Milk Hotel Now Touring
Wednesday, 22 January 2014 10:23

The other day, in an excitement gush and with acquiescence that the tickets were already sold out, we'd read that Neutral Milk Hotel had reformed and are now touring and performing songs from one of the greatest albums of all time, Aeroplane Over the Sea r.1998.

Wherever you live, do yourself a favor and get to this concert. Neutral Milk Hotel, besides being years ahead of their time, produced an incredibly complete album, so full and resolutely sincere and magnificently beautiful... the idea of seeing it performed live gives my whole body goose bumps. April 9th is the date.

Dreams do come true. Neutral Milk Hotel are touring.

If an indie rock band on a reunion tour is expected to force audiences to reconsider their legacy, Neutral Milk Hotel is absolutely nailing it. Not only is it reminding people of its masterpiece's immense influence, it is affirming its discography as a worthwhile document from back to front and reestablishing itself as a devastatingly powerful live act. As fans stuck around, hoping to get a glimpse of Jeff Mangum as the band packed up, I felt that, far from some crass cash-in, the Neutral Milk Hotel reunion was a band reclaiming its rightful reputation as one of music’s most independently-minded and idiosyncratic entities. ~READ ON

Alex Ziv & His Chopper
Thursday, 16 January 2014 11:55

SF based artist, Alex Ziv, swung through FFDG the other day riding in on his chopper which he recently rode all the way down to Los Angeles. Maybe not the longest ride in the world, but damn, on that thing?! His legs must have been killing him halfway down.

Check out some of Ziv's newest works here, and be sure to view his last show at FFDG this past May when he showed with the talented Mario Ayala in Going Nowhere.
