Joshua Liner Gallery in New York City smelled like fish this past weekend. Actually, like east bay fish, somewhere between Oakland and SF. Obviously it was the solo shows of Jeremy Fish and Josh Keyes that we have all read about over the last couple weeks here on Fecal.
Jeremy who is known for his mythical creatures of exploration and romance killed it, with his best body of work to date. Sure he did not carve the frames or the creatures but he road a scooter through some crazy jungle every day to see that his vision was executed to perfection and lets face it, the wood composed paintings that the frames held are completely next level for Jeremy. His signature wood shaped works were all his own and near flawless and really large. I would have to say "Seasons of Change" was one of the best theme shows I have seen in recent months and something tells me this show might be a statement of person growth for Jeremy Fish as he enters a new stage of progression with his work. Big ups bro!
And, Oh boy! Let us not over look Mr. Josh Keyes who undoubtedly held it down for all the Oakland heads out there, with a whole bunch of "Side Effects". Josh who we all love has absolutely exploded over the last couple years, displayed a more toned down batch of beauties than what I am accustom to. Toned down does not mean tuned out, this was an impressive body of work with some series additions from years past that were long over due. The newest exhale series was fierce and full of motion. Did anyone notice the shark ripping outta the wall, (freshly harvested from Oakland bay I would guess) paying nice homage to our mindless leader with a 1000 points of light. I must say I would have liked to see some more cameras but that is probably just the voyeurism talking.
Dawn 1V, will be traveling home with me very soon.
My favorite Keyes in the joint, so sick... The Exchange.
OMG! Jeremy Fish is signing my book!
Always good for rocking the charity.
Jeremy Fish is from New York originally and had a bunch of old friends come through the show. You might be able to spot em' if you look hard enough.
You gotta love the natural woods.
Josh Keyes looking all Thom Yorke fab.
1000 points of light.
Some onsite Fish seasoning.
And some final fan fair from Josh Keyes.
