Mike Giant Bit Again
Wednesday, 18 July 2012 /// Written by Van Edwards
Swear Mike Giant has to be the most copied contemporary artist of our time. Jessica stumbled across this beer label that "picks up on" (more like straight copies) the man's work.
The design picks up on the the brewery's rebellious nature and is a homage to east coast streetart and artists such as Rebel 8.... Um, don't forget the art of Mike Giant specifically. ~more info
What's up with designers who can't come up with their own shit?!
Thrasher Mike Giant Coverage
Tuesday, 17 July 2012 /// Written by Van Edwards
Thanks to Thrasher Magazine for the Mike Giant show coverage.
Much has been written about the clean, instantly-recognizable linework of Mike Giant. The wide-ranging extent of his career is too broad to be summarized in one caption, but his art has been intertwined with skateboarding for decades. ~read on

Opening reception: Friday, June 20th, 7–10 pm
@FFDG, 2277 Mission St., SF, CA
preview inquires, email: info(at)ffdg.net
San Francisco, CA -- FFDG is pleased to present San Francisco based artist Mike Giant in his first solo show with the gallery entitled "Confessions of an Old Dirty Skateboarder" featuring a wide assemblage of recent drawings and also a rare opportunity to view Giant's personal collection of skateboards he illustrated the graphics for, including boards from his early career. There will be an opening reception for the show on Friday, July 20th (7-10pm). The artist will be present. Beer and wine will be available.
"I'm a product of my generation. I grew up through the 80s and was drawn to the punk rock and hip-hop cultures simultaneously", Giant said in a recent interview. "I threw myself in headfirst. A lot of those things were about personal expression, and also an anti-establishment attitude like, "We don't need you, we have our own thing." That's the backbone of who I am to this day".
San Francisco based Mike Giant has achieved fame as a graffiti artist, illustrator and tattooist. Black ink is Giant's specialty and whether his medium is concrete, paper or skin, his signature style - inspired by Mexican folk art and Japanese illustration - is unmistakable. Mike Giant has worked in media covering, graffiti, design, fine art, photography and tattooing, making him one of the most celebrated and versatile artists of his generation. He has shown in galleries around the world.
A Visit w/ Rebel 8
Tuesday, 29 November 2011 /// Written by Trippe
Stopped through Rebel 8 clothing HQ last week to see what their up to. We've known Joshy D. 10 plus years back when he was doing the SF graffiti site, HiFiArt.com in the early days of the internet when Fecal Face was just getting its start. Nice to see Mike Giant, whose designs adjorn many of Rebel 8's clothing, and Josh doing so well.

Rebel 8 has Mike Giant Sharpies now available and they come in multiple colors for only $3.50/ each.
“I’ve been inking every drawing with my signature REBEL8 Sharpies. I’ve been drawing with Sharpies almost exclusively since 1990. If someone then had told me that I’d have a Signature Sharpie someday, I would have laughed at them. But ... I make a living drawing with them. How crazy is that? Thanks, everybody." -Mike Giant
