Neutral Milk Hotel Now Touring
Wednesday, 22 January 2014 /// Written by Trippe

The other day, in an excitement gush and with acquiescence that the tickets were already sold out, we'd read that Neutral Milk Hotel had reformed and are now touring and performing songs from one of the greatest albums of all time, Aeroplane Over the Sea r.1998.

Wherever you live, do yourself a favor and get to this concert. Neutral Milk Hotel, besides being years ahead of their time, produced an incredibly complete album, so full and resolutely sincere and magnificently beautiful... the idea of seeing it performed live gives my whole body goose bumps. April 9th is the date.

April 9th & 10th

Dreams do come true. Neutral Milk Hotel are touring.

If an indie rock band on a reunion tour is expected to force audiences to reconsider their legacy, Neutral Milk Hotel is absolutely nailing it. Not only is it reminding people of its masterpiece's immense influence, it is affirming its discography as a worthwhile document from back to front and reestablishing itself as a devastatingly powerful live act. As fans stuck around, hoping to get a glimpse of Jeff Mangum as the band packed up, I felt that, far from some crass cash-in, the Neutral Milk Hotel reunion was a band reclaiming its rightful reputation as one of music’s most independently-minded and idiosyncratic entities. ~READ ON

Hooray for Thee Ohsees
Friday, 20 December 2013 /// Written by Trippe

SAN FRANCISCO --- Thee Ohsees aren't breaking up, but they are taking a long hiatus as front man John Dwyer (our podcast interview) told the crowd at Wednesday's performance at Great American. "This will be the last Oh Sees show for a long while," he told the crowd. "So dig in."

Dwyer's off to LA (yet another artist leaves San Francisco) and Brigid Dawson leaving for Santa Cruz while bass guitarist Petey Dammit and drummer Mike Shoun are staying in the city.

We just want to thank Thee Ohsees for bringing the brilliant music for years and can't wait to see them live again in the future!

After relentless touring and work, Thee Ohsees are taking a much deserved break.

Mollusk Big Sur Jamboree on September 27 to 28th: Two days of music, camping and ensuing fun, set amongst the redwoods co-presented by (((folkYEAH!)))
Monday, 02 September 2013 /// Written by Trippe

Camp fire roaring in Big Sur with live music from Vetiver, Beachwood Sparks, McCombs Skiffle Players (a once in a lifetime Cass McCombs super group), Allah-Las, Sonny and the Sunsets, The Autumn Defense, Little Wings, Neal Casal, Chris Cohen, F.D and the Wizards of the West All Stars, Range of Light Wilderness, The Mattson 2, Sonny and the Sunsets, and many more.

Sponsored by Mollusk surf shop and the Big Sur Jamboree features two days of music, camping and ensuing fun, set amongst the redwoods co-presented by (((folkYEAH!))). Sept 27-28

Though there will be food and drink on site, Jamboree attendees are encouraged to bring their own. Been saving a vintage bottle of chardonnay from the famed Marcassin Estate in Sonoma… there couldn't be a better time to uncork it than when Beachwood Sparks hits the stage deep in the woods. Lastly, Farmer Dave has been deemed the Jamboree's "Cultural Vibesman" and will be on hand to ensure all attendees will have a wonderful time. Think of the Jamboree less as a music festival and more as summer camp for adults!
